Day 1 - Arrive Adelaide, Wilpena Pound
Arrive in Adelaide and journey north via the Clare Valley wine region to Wilpena Pound, a natural amphitheatre of mountains in the heart of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. Enjoy dinner and a drink tonight with your fellow travellers.
Day 2 - Wilpena Pound
Today explore the national park's Indigenous culture, unique rock structures dating back millions of years, spectacular gorge and abundant wildlife. Perhaps take a guided walk along Wilpena Creek to the Hills Homestead or a scenic flight over Wilpena Pound (own expense).
Day 3 - Wilpena Pound, Coober Pedy
This morning travel via Port Augusta and Woomera to 'the opal capital of the world', Coober Pedy. The town is renowned for its underground residences, built to cope with the scorching daytime heat.
Day 4 - Coober Pedy, Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre Flight
Today enjoy the amazing experience of seeing Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre. Take a scenic flight to view the incredible colours and patterns of the stunning Lake Eyre North, and stop at the famous William Creek Hotel for morning tea. After exploring William Creek, visit one of Australia's best kept secrets, the Anna Creek Painted Hills, where you will be in awe by the level of detail in what seems an empty landscape. This afternoon learn how opal is found and mined with a visit to Umoona Opal Mine Museum.
Day 5 - Coober Pedy, Uluru (Ayers Rock), Field of Light
Travel on the Stuart Highway and view the vast arid lands on the way to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. First seen European explorers in 1872, Uluru is one of Australia's most famous and sacred sites. This evening enjoy the Field of Light art installation, which sees more than 50,000 stems crowned with frosted-glass spheres 'bloom' in the desert as darkness falls.
Day 6 - Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Rise early to view sunrise over Uluru - it's an awe-inspiring experience seeing the massive sandstone monolith's colours change at dawn. Then take a base walk around this iconic sight. Visit the rock domes and peaks of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and walk to Walpa Gorge. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner and drink with your fellow travellers.
Day 7 - Depart Uluru (Ayers Rock)
After breakfast, visit the Uluru Cultural Centre and enjoy the remainder of the morning at leisure. Then, be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
